“Social Innovation Challenge” Final Pitching Contest

Co-led by UNDP and the Citi Foundation, Youth Co:Lab aims to empower and invest in youth so that they can accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship. “Social Innovation Challenge Japan” is a business idea contest where selected teams will pitch and showcase their SDG-focused business models and ideas to a panel of esteemed judges.
The individuals and teams who passed the paper and video pitch screening will pitch their solutions. We will select the winners of the Excellence Award, CVC Award, Audience Award, among others. Award-winners from the Japan contest will have the opportunity to join the accelerator programme and the top teams will be invited to attend the Youth Co:Lab Regional Summit which will take place in 2021. Please come listen to the powerful pitches and innovative ideas of social entrepreneurs in Japan.

Profiles of the judges:

Born in 1971, graduated from Waseda University and joined ETIC. as a founding member. When ETIC. was incorporated as an NPO, she became the Executive Director. Atsuko offers students, business persons and entrepreneurs consultations specializing in social career and start-ups for more than 2000 people. She has also coordinated internships programs for over 100 start-ups so far.
Taro Tabata has been Managing Director, Senior Executive Officer, and Co-Head of Investment Banking, Citigroup Global Markets Japan Inc. since February 2019. He leads Citi Japan’s investment banking business with a focus on serving Japan’s top consumer and retail corporates. Prior to assuming his current position, Tabata was the head of the Consumer and Retail Group at Investment Banking where he advised on many important projects, including merger between Family Mart and Uny Group, Danone’s divestiture of Yakult and Takashimaya’s Convertible Bond offering as a lead book runner. Tabata joined Citi in 2000 and has a wealth of experience advising consumer and retail sector clients on M&A, equity/bond underwriting, and other capital restructuring deals. Tabata graduated from Keio University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and has an M.B.A. from the London Business School.
