We will hold all events online to keep participants safe from the COVID-19 pandemic. Details of each event and how to sign up will be disclosed on UNDP’s website as soon as they become available. Please note that the details of programs are subject to change.


Introductory workshop on SDGs and social entrepreneurship for students (Held in English)

  • Date/Time: Saturday, September 5, 2020, from 10:00 to 13:00
  • An introductory workshop on SDGs and social entrepreneurship will be conducted in English for those interested in signing up for Social Innovation Challenge. The workshop will be held jointly with Hult Prize, which organizes the world’s largest competition among students as social entrepreneurs.

Japan Dialogue Part 1: Why social entrepreneurship in the age of COVID-19? (Held in Japanese)

  • Date/Time: Tuesday, September 8, 2020, from 19:00 to 20:15
  • The global COVID-19 pandemic has brought into relief social issues such as poverty and disparity and spurred demand for change in the way we live and the societies we live in. Amid this crisis, there are social entrepreneurs around the world who are striving to find solutions to these issues that will help realize a sustainable society. What is the significance of social entrepreneurs and what chance do they have in the age of the COVID-19?

Briefing session on “Social Innovation Challenge Japan 2020” (Held in Japanese. English sessions can be organized on demand basis)

  • Date/Time: Tuesday, September 15, 2020, from 19:00 to 20:00
  • A briefing session will be held for those who are interested in signing up for Social Innovation Challenge Japan 2020. We will explain the details of the event and how to fill in the application forms, and answer questions.

Japan Dialogue Part 2: How to make an ecosystem for social entrepreneurs in the age of COVID-19? (Held in Japanese)

  • Date/Time: Tuesday, November 10, 2020, from 19:00 to 20:15
  • A panel of young experts from venture capital, social enterprise, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, social impact investing will discuss how to create an ecosystem to promote social innovation and youth entrepreneurship.

“Social Innovation Challenge Japan 2020” Final Pitching Contest (Held in Japanese and English)

  • Date/Time: November 24 (Tues), 2020 / 19:00~21:30
  • Finalists who passed the first screening (on paper) and the second screening (pitch video) will present their business ideas to achieve SDGs to a panel of judges.
